Six years in the making.

The Hydrofoiler represents an unwavering kiwi attitude towards innovation.

Guy Howard-Willis has always had a passion for cycling and watersports. That passion drove him to found Torpedo7, New Zealand’s leading outdoor and adventure sports multi-channel retailer.

New Zealand’s surrounded by some of the most beautiful coastlines and inland waterways in the world. Guy, being an avid cyclist has witnessed it all from the road, but an intuitive cycling experience on the water was always something he’d searched for, sketched up, and dreamt about.

Exploring new frontiers

In 2010 Guy became fascinated with the introduction of hydrofoils in the America’s Cup – which tripled the yacht’s speed and ultimately revolutionising sailing forever.

At once, Guy’s vision to replicate the cycling experience on water became clear. The secret sauce had to be hydrofoil technology? This simple question became the beginning of an incredible journey.

Guy met Roland Alonzo, another passionate cyclist who also happened to be an accomplished bicycle designer possessed by a love of cutting-edge technology. The two hit it off and over the next six years took Guy’s vision to a whole new level.

“We’re pushing the limits of what people can achieve on water.”

Cutting edge technology

Less is more, which is why we don’t include unnecessary detail or features. Instead, we designed the simplest, most hydrodynamic bike we could, using quality materials, assembled right here in New Zealand.

Confidence in usability

The Hydrofoiler is designed to be modular for easy component upgrades and in-car or roof rack transportation. Lightweight carbon fibre foils and aircraft grade alloy frame mean the bike is light enough to be carried by hand to and from water.

No roads. No traffic.

We’ve ridden all sorts of bicycles but nothing for us has come close to the experience of this human powered hydrofoil.
